Fruit Collection: A Simple and Contemporary Set of Home Use Containers

Inspired by the Beauty of Natural Forms

The Fruit Collection stands out with its unique combination of materials. The containers are made from wood, which provides warmth, and thermoplastic, which represents purity and innovation. The contrast between these two materials, with their different textures and colors, adds depth and visual interest to the design.

One of the key features of this collection is the strict relationship between function and form. The containers have an ovoid shape with an integrated lid and handle, making them simple, functional, and elegant. The lid, made of olive root, not only provides access to the contents but also enhances the organic inspiration behind the design.

The Fruit Collection offers a multi-purpose design with an attractive aesthetic. The containers range in size from 120 mm to 350 mm, providing versatility for various food applications. The cases are made of thermoplastic polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using a vacuum thermoforming process, while the lids are machined in CNC from olive root and finished with teak oil. The lid's handle is also made of thermoplastic (PMMA).

Designed to be used primarily as dried food containers, the Fruit Collection can also accommodate wet and more liquid foods. Each container consists of three parts: the lower case with its ovoid shape, the lid that defines access and strengthens the organic form, and the integrated handle.

The Fruit Collection was developed by José Leite in collaboration with Joana Amaral and Tiago Martins Leite. The project started in July 2015 and was completed in August 2015 in Porto, Portugal. Through careful research and optimization of the production process, the team achieved a simple product with clean and multi-purpose shapes.

The Fruit Collection has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2016, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
